Almost every day since Trump2.0, I end my day with checking the news, possibly with a little doom scrolling, then going over to the #Discworld Reddit to enjoy some sanity, humor, and hope. Then going to bed to read more Pratchett. Thank the fucking gods for Terry Pratchett. #GNU

School librarian detective skill activated tonight as I start watching The Residence on Netflix. The opening titles look familiar and I knew without a doubt they were created by Maria Kalman (author/illustrator of Listening to Lincoln, What Pete Ate A to Z, and more) and I turned out to be right!

Shout-out to all the school libraries that provided me with safety and familiarity. Those sanctuaries of plushy chairs, good-smelling books and sweet-mannered librarians.

I had a home. Amidst the endless nightmare of answering questions in the classroom and traversing hallways. Ever thankful.

This administration wants the public uneducated so they can do whatever they want. This is why they target libraries.

Wanna see joy? Go to a PK storytime at your local library and just soak in the love.

Sad that this shit is still happening but I feel this and might have to go write my own anti-acknowledgements for some catharsis bc whew.
A friend included this anti-acknowledgement section on her PhD thesis. She also added the proposition: “Systematic bullying and undermining of girls and women in STEM starts early on and is the reason why they do not stay in science and related fields.”
Absurd we still need to go through this
