Trying to like Masters of the Air but there’s something about it that just doesn’t work for me.

And therein learning what your tastes actually are, and developing them.
Apart from everything else, the idea of art specifically tailored "for your tastes" makes no sense because the way you develop tastes is by encountering art and having a reaction to it.

Lincoln would have been out there taking a righteous axe handle to these motherfuckers, is what would be happening
I’ll save you the click — it’s Allen Guezlo, who served on Trump’s 1776 Commission, and he says, well, Lincoln supported Republicans in his time so (shrug) he’d probably just blindly support the racist insurrectionist crooked right-wing Republican today too!

Imagine how many citizens, lawful residents, visa-holders, and others would get swept up in a totalitarian Trump mass deportation surge.

Not that his voters would care; those people won’t be white.
The biggest challenge in 2024 is to get enough people to actually listen to what Trump and those around him are openly, consistently, and explicitly promising to do once they get back to power.

It is utterly deranged, and discounting it as just rhetoric would be a disaster.

"The science hasn't changed, we just don't care anymore. The economy is open for business, and the machine needs people to chew up to feed itself! Just suck on a Ricola and get to work, and if you die, we can probably use your body as a chair or something, which is very sustainable!"

Perfectly phrased by Mark Jacob (former editor for the Chicago Tribune.)

"One candidate is old and makes verbal flubs.

"The other candidate is old, makes verbal flubs, faces 91 felony counts and wants to be a dictator."

Obsessing on gaffes is lazy journalism
We should be less concerned about minor things politicians do accidentally than major things they do on purpose.

So my choices are between an old guy who forgets dates and another old guy who definitely knows what date to overthrow the government or maybe rape someone? Tough one 🙄
I wrote about the disgusting hit job on Biden, and got to make the point that Biden's occasional slips are nothing compared with Trump's incoherent ranting www.nytimes.com/live/2024/02...

Many people have trouble remembering dates. And his opponent’s rants are far worse.

I think I’ve finally realized that as a Canadian, I’m quasi-biologically incapable of understanding American politics.

I don’t understand why Taylor Swift doesn’t just run for President at this point. Guaranteed win.

Gotta say it - Gerwig and Robbie probably deserved nominations, but Barbie is just plain bad.
