Hegseth’s name card says “SSECRETARY OF WAR.” (sic)

Either more of that egregious White House incompetence or just openly flaunting the whole SS thing now. Or both maybe.

With Tuesday's White House Cabinet meeting chugging past the two-hour mark, Trump 's eyes fluttered and closed. His budget director busied himself doodling a fluffy cloud. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was lucky enough to speak early, but the title on his nameplate was misspelled.

"It gives me no pleasure to say what I’m about to say because I worked with Pete Hegseth for seven or eight years at Fox News. This is an act of a war crime .... There’s absolutely no legal basis for it.”

Woah. Newsmax’s legal analyst just said Pete Hegseth and everyone involved in the illegal boat strike should be “prosecuted for a war crime.”

They’ve even lost Newsmax on this one.

Did you tear-up today when you were out protesting because you felt the camaraderie and fellowship with so many like-minded and caring people?

I did.

Did you tear-up today when you were protesting because you're still processing the fact that we're rapidly tumbling toward authoritarianism?

I did.

This graph says it all: instead of starting to go down, the *annual increase* of atmospheric CO2 is setting new records. We're making climate change worse at a record rate.
Turning this around should be our top priority, and it's not.

The thing about No Kings the GOP doesn't seem to get isn't that we hate you as much as it is that we recognize you for what you are.

You're a threat. You're a threat to our lives, our livelihoods, our families, our friends.

We WILL drive you out of power. You haven't given us any other choice.

Why don’t they rise up and take control from those traitors?
Republicans veterans in Congress, Joint Chiefs Chair Dan Caine, and senior military officers continue to remain silent while Trump, Vance and Hegseth, week after week, give partisan political speeches to active duty troops.

It is a betrayal of their oath to the Constitution.

Donald Trump's effort to deploy troops in American cities is not normal.

There is no rational justification for such a deployment.

It is a breach of the most fundamental values and customs that our armed forces operate on.

Many of us in the US are asking ourselves, what role does science have to play under an authoritarian regime?

Or perhaps you’re asking, why are scientists (or science more broadly) being treated this way by our own government?

I think it boils down to this: science CREATES authority.
