nothing drives me crazier than the fact Democratic governance gets infinitely critiqued for failing to succeed well enough meanwhile Republican governance hasn't accomplished literally anything ever

Imagine the media reaction if a single Democrat ever said anything like this ever once in history.
After bragging about permanently cutting "Democrat programs," Trump says "we're not closing up Republican programs."

So if you're wondering why Democrats were so timid about a government shutdown it's because every single media outlet is now pushing out headlines blaming Democrats for a government shutdown that happened under Republican control over all three branches of government.

Sam’s Law of Media:

The media treats Democrats as the only political actors with agency, responsible for everything happening

Republicans, by contrast, are treated like zoo animals: odd, fascinating, but never to be judged and, perhaps more importantly, never responsible for their own decisions

These are calls for mass political violence, against all Democrats. They openly call for the bombing of "Democrat" cities and for the jailing or killing of Democratic politicians. They are from some of the most influential voices in right-wing politics. Will anyone say anything?

It’s so surreal seeing prominent right-wing figures—an influential presidential advisor, the last campaign’s biggest donor, etc.—call for violence, the GOP president lie and stoke violence, every Dem officeholder condemn it, and mainstream media treat those as the same, or the Dem reaction as worse.

Kirk was a racist who thought black people shouldn’t be pilots. He thought women should be subservient to men. He hated MLK and the Civil Rights Act. He didn’t care about political violence against Paul Pelosi and Democrats. All his own words. You can deplore the shooting without honoring the man.

Trump pardoned literal war criminals and never got the amount of anger Biden is getting right now.

The whole Very Reasonable Person schtick is based around pretending not to be aware of this so you can get indignant about Democrats refusing to listen to The Left who have never done anything wrong.

you know your political movement is cooked when you're spinning a literal schizophrenic gunman as part of your coalition because his murder victim happened to be rich
I think some folks are upset the Luigi isn’t a hard leftist but I think a coalition of doers with a common enemy is extremely essential for actual political progress and this is a huge win for all of us

Remember when Republicans had fainting spells over JUST Jen Psaki taking a job at MSNBC, decrying the apparent "revolving door" between the Dems and the network? Apparently *that's* disqualifying, but when it happens 10x as much on the right? Totally fine.

Dems beat Trump by a lot more in 2020 than he beat us in 2024, and the GOP didn't hand-wring about the need to find common ground with us. They treated us like enemies of the entire country and a critical mass of voters were convinced. "We need to compromise and accommodate" is not the lesson here.

I think it's bad that Biden did a bunch of good leftist stuff with the economy, which resulted in exactly the stuff leftists say they want, and the result is that leftists continue to fall for right wing propaganda on this issue and insist it never happened.
