“The researchers describe the bicycle as a kind of “lifestyle companion” for older adults—a tool that keeps them physically active, mentally sharp, socially connected, & confidently mobile. That combination appears to delay the need for long-term care, preserve independence,& ultimately extend life”

One of the first things Alaska’s new Governor needs to do is appoint a whole new board of education.

Shout out to everyone completely demoralized about the state of the world who still manages to get out of bed each morning.

And shout out to you, too if you’re still in bed. This shit is hard. Talk to your friends and neighbors. They’re going though it too, which is both terrifying and comforting.

I really cannot imagine going to all the trouble of getting elected to the Senate only to get there and decide not to stand up for healthcare, or democracy, or people’s ability to afford their lives. If those things aren’t worth fighting for, then truly what is?

“They must allow ministers to assist with their needs. They've been separated from their families and no one knows what happens.”

We haven't set a firm deadline yet but our survey will probably be open another week or two if anyone from the #akleg #alaskasky #aknews crowd wants to provide feedback on a new party effort we're exploring.

I’d be ashamed to have a job meant to help my fellow Americans, to be paid while doing no work, all while people will lose benefits, jobs, and go hungry; the entire east wing of executive mansion in rubble as federal soldiers invade states, and the protection rather than eviction of child rapists.

Apparently separation of powers doesn’t work as well when there’s one branch of government.

I’m no Douthat fan, and maybe Im way off, but I immediately thought of Anchorage’s TSDO and the NIMBY forces that watered it down.

President Trump’s White House demolition is a small example of why his bull-in-a-china-shop approach has appeal, Ross Douthat writes. “The president’s eagerness to pre-empt objections and just do something that seems necessary is part of why voters find him attractive.”
Opinion | Why Trump’s East Wing Demolition Needed to Happen
The arguments against it illustrate a consistent problem with progressive stewardship of American cities.
