Just come home and seeing the news of Labour's defence cuts (before the SDR)...
1) yes we knew HMS Northumberland was going soon, no surprise
2) Once again scrapping our LPDs with a replacement not even agreed yet is dumb

Chinese-flagged cargo ship Yi Peng 3 crossed both submarine cables C-Lion 1 and BSC at times matching when they broke.

She was shadowed by Danish navy for a while during night and is now in Danish Straits leaving Baltics.

No signs of boarding. AIS-caveats apply.

The AIB report makes no mention of mission equipment, because those details were not relevant to the cause of the crash. 17-4341 was, at the time of the crash, equipped with an as-of-yet unidentified pod that has shown up multiple times.

The AIB report for the MQ-9 crash in Romania last July reveals the tail number of the aircraft: 17-4341. I noted this airframe being stationed at Campia Turzii in a short blog post I wrote in 2021; in fact, local plane spotters had taken pictures of the airframe on approach.

I'm in the difficult position of really liking bsky, but also having gotten Threads... the latter has potential due to its background, but I do think bsky is the better platform right now...

Guess we'll have to see what happens!

Bluesky has an objectively better community than Threads (Threads is basically Instagram influencers desperately trying to blog), but Threads has the whole Facebook/Instragram backing at the moment.

Bunch of fracturing/factionalizing going on right now.
