My extremely simple heuristic for the current political system is that until you can go food shopping and think prices haven’t increased / things aren’t expensive etc don’t expect any material political continuity.

What's happened to council tax over the last 30 years? Has it really doubled?

Yes. Here's how, and here's why: buff.ly/7HSGJij
Has council tax really gone up? The evidence.
We strip out inflation to show how UK council tax has changed in real terms, and explain how funding cuts and social care drove the rise.

Removing asylum support. Seizing belongings. Deporting entire families, including children.

Labour are not just paving the path to a Reform government. Reform may as well already be in power.

This government has no moral compass — and it should be ashamed of its inhumanity.

There were 93 homicides in London last year: population 9 million

In New York - population 8.5 million - there were
391.

London's homicide figure is 6 times lower than LA, 9 times lower than Miami, 17 times lower than Chicago.

And it's falling year on year despite the population increasing

If MPs defected at the same rates as their voters, the Commons would look like:

Labour: 212 (-199)
Lib Dems: 110 (+38)
Conservatives: 99 (-22)
Greens: 87 (+83)
Reform UK: 86 (+81)
SNP/PC: 25 (+12)
Others: 31 (+7)

A month ago I looked at what I called Labour's midlife crisis- an obsession with chasing socially conservative Reform-curious voters and ignoring groups of disaffected voters with social attitudes much closer to Labour voters. But some people thought there was method in their madness. Was there? 1/n

I became disabled literally overnight over 10 years ago.

I was already mildly disabled when it happened, but still living a pretty normal life until I woke up one morning racked with pain and having trouble walking because my legs were weak.

I'd been at a Women In Business lunch the day before.
People are in denial about how quickly they could become disabled, unhoused or food insecure

It can happen to anyone & it can happen in an instant

Folks act like those receiving assistance have failed

That they should “try harder”

The system is rigged. It’s failed us, not the other way around
