On Thursday, Politico published a piece titled, “Why Washington Residents Aren’t Flooding the Streets to Protest Trump."

While it accurately reports that there hasn’t been anything close to a modern-day March on Washington, it misses the critical work being done by everyday locals.
The resistance is active in DC—you’re just not looking closely enough
It's not massive protests on Pennsylvania Avenue, but happenstance hecklers and Nextdoor posts.

You helped with the orchestration of these horrific camps the minute you proudly voted for the Laken Riley Act that stripped immigrants of due process rights.

Whatever happens from here on out is on you too.
Using taxpayer dollars to build a detention center in one of the most dangerous environments in the U.S.? No thanks.

“Alligator Alcatraz” is ALREADY flooding – it must go.

That’s why I’m demanding ICE and DHS stop construction.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

I am tracking every single thing happening at ICE and watching all the footage, I will also be there in person.

I am also working with people to be as strategic as possible to protect my community. I will not seek impulsive statements or solutions.

If I am quiet, it is not for lack of action.

Remember that all your clothes are covered in tear gas dust. Take off your clothes when you come home. Try to keep your dog from snorfing it. When you shower it will sting again. Let it rinse off before you wash tender areas.
