My old windsurfing haunt of Geraldton hit 49.3°C yesterday, equaling its all time record set only in Feb last year, and smashing its January record set in 1954 by 1.6°C. Australia has warmed by 1.51°C over the past century.

#boardwargames Been a week since I broke out to solo play this beauty, copy of the first game I ever played, December’78. Been out of playing since ‘83, bought an eBay copy ($21 plus shipping & tax to get to UK) last summer, 40 odd years since the last time I set a game up.

Christmas doesn't actually end until the 6th of January, or the Sunday after if you're going by Ordinary Time, or Candlemas if you're going by Ye Olde Calendar, so it's technically illegal to take your tree down or eat anything other than sweets for breakfast until early February

Libraries are the absolute best thing our society has created. This is both horrible but also sadly unsurprising...
The UK has lost one in 20 libraries since 2016, either by closing them completely or moving them over to volunteer-run groups. The poorest areas were around four times more likely to permanently lose a local library than the richest
