His tank was blown up so hence his remains were mixed with a fellow soldier. He won a scholarship to Emmanuel college Wandsworth. I don’t know how my Nan managed to put him through school. Such a tragedy. He’s standing, right in both pics. Left a widow and two kids

My Nan did a wonderful job bringing up their four sons but sadly she did lose one to war. My uncle Jim died at Alamein. A husband and son.

This absolutely beautiful feature is, I think, a baldachino or canopy used to cover an altar. It is on the east wall of St Mary’s priory church Old Maldon. I’ve never seen one before and happy to be corrected! Every day’s a school day!

Gorgeous modern stained glass

The tree represents rootedness, a sense of place and belonging, and is symbolic of the family tree, of longevity and continuity.

Remembering the nurses, doctors, stretcher bearers and RAMC members who cared for injured and dying men
Someone at HASLAR gave my grandad a pencil and paper to allow him to write his last letter home. Bless them all.

Anyone who supports Reform or UK might want to read what Trump thinks of our countrymen and women’s sacrifices. Not brave like the Yanks apparently. Says a man who didn’t fight because of bone spurs.

You have “ornamental” logs and then stick a notice on them…..telling people they are ornaments, thus completely ruining them as ornaments! In our self catering accommodation

The building has one of the finest Pre-Conquest towers in the north of England. Its two lower sections date from the first half of the eleventh century, while the top section is a later, Norman addition.
Sadly, the church is only occasionally open.

This is a huge memorial in Stonegrave parish church #Yorkshire
Apparently the text is Hebrew and says
Shoshana will rise
Daughter of the world to come
Never seen Hebrew in a Christian church before.
#churchcrawling

The memorial is to a Susanna

A lovely very interesting church
