Born #OTD in 1897, Aneurin Bevan. As Minister of Health and Housing in the 45-51 Labour Govt and in an era of genuine austerity, his policies helped build 805,000 new council homes.

We benefitted from one of these brand new homes in 1953. Wonderful.

This absolutely beautiful feature is, I think, a baldachino or canopy used to cover an altar. It is on the east wall of St Mary’s priory church Old Maldon. I’ve never seen one before and happy to be corrected! Every day’s a school day!
