What are some things (events, people, orgs, etc) about Black history that should be required knowledge before students graduate HS?

Am I the only kid who spent an unusually large amount of time at the county library during my middle school years?

This is my favorite thing about teaching the Great Migration. Everybody in DC has family in NC/SC and Chicago is just Mississippi with a coat. It just makes sense once you trace it back
I just need (American-born) Black ppl to realize: That almost all of us who can trace back 3+ generations are, indeed, Southern.

Please stop.

My last teacher take of 2024:
Any district that is coming back the Thursday & Friday after NYD deserves to be booed and doesn’t honestly care about the mental health of the staff in their buildings.
Good night, all.

So he’s punishing the entire city???? Wtf
The city of New Orleans uses the Mississippi River as drinking water. Our current governor begged the state to remove funding from the city of New Orleans to fix the pumps and the decaying sewage and water system UNTIL the DA agrees to prosecute women for abortions. www.essence.com/news/louisia...

We have larger concerns heading into 2025, but I can't let go of the idea that the next season of Sesame Street could be its last. So I wrote about why the kids' TV institution is still vital after more than 50 years:
Can You Tell Me How to Get Someone to Save 'Sesame Street'?
With its Warner Bros. Discovery contract about to expire, TV critic Alan Sepinwall explains why the beloved children's series deserves to survive.

The worst part about being terminally online over the past few decades is making so many connections, only to see a lot of them get brain washed by various groups parading around social media.

The fact that Jordan Peele asked Disney if he could make a Gargoyles movie and they said no proves there is no hope for Disney at this point.

“People started to notice that there's kind of something peculiar about people in Utah,” said Meg Walter, Deseret's culture writer. “That led to Bravo taking notice, and here we are today.”
From Real Housewives to Mormon Wives to ‘Sold on SLC,’ Utah is a reality TV star
To outsiders, Utah can seem a mysterious place. But the rise of reality TV like the “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” and others have given people a peek inside.
