🇯🇵 🏆 The triumph at #SheBelieves is commendable in itself, but what did it tell us about Nielsen’s vision for Nadeshiko Japan?

✍️ In my latest for @JapanTimes.co.jp I examine the key takeaways from a superbly well managed campaign.

Nils Nielsen's vision for Nadeshiko Japan comes to life at SheBelieves Cup
The remarkable achievement has brought about a renewed optimism among the fanbase, as Japan seems ready to turn the page after years of perceived underperformance.

The key word here is exclusive. All Netflix, no TV 🚫 📺
Inbox: “FIFA and Netflix have signed a historic agreement relating to the exclusive rights in the United States to the 2027 and 2031 instalments of the FIFA Women’s World Cup™ in what represents a landmark announcement for women’s football.”

Includes documentaries too. Wow.

The point made in the article about the myriad impacts of venue ownership and/or primary tenancy has parallels across other women’s pro sports & in different ways at amateur levels #womenssports
The long quest to build both a training facility and a stadium in Chicago -- with #NWSL as the primary tenant -- continues. More from the Chicago Tribune, which includes this point that really summarizes the league's widespread venue problem.

Women's sports are sprinting ahead of men's sports.
