usually if you ask experts why an empire fell they’ll say it’s nuanced and multifaceted, so i think it’s kind of cool that with America future historians will get to just say like “oh they took the idiot train to moronsville”

Post truth era indeed.
Q: Can you respond to the CBO estimate that the Senate bill would increase the deficit by nearly $3.3 trillion?

LEAVITT: This is one of the most fiscally conservative pieces of legislation that has ever made its way through Capitol Hill

It occurs to me (and I’m certainly not the only one) that all this Iran nuclear talk is predicated on Iran acting differently than every other nuclear state over the last 75 years. We’re to assume that upon obtaining a weapon they’ll immediately use it against other nuclear states. Strains credulity

Understand the Republican Party is all about loyalty tests now. Every outrage is an opportunity to reinforce the dominance of the In group and filter out anyone suspected of disloyalty. They don't need to believe anything that's happening is right, they just need to prove loyalty again and again.

We need to build some real social stigma around being afraid of cities. You don't have to like them or live there, but a politics built this strongly around watching TV and going "ewww" is embarrassing, and people should be embarrassed by it. It's like "fear of werewolves" being your top issue.

Imagine being this stupid. Shamelessness really is a superpower.
HASSAN: What is habeas corpus?

NOEM: Habeas corpus is a constitutional right that the president has to be able to remove people from this country

HASSAN: That's incorrect

I’m as Protestant as it gets, but Pope Francis was truly a man of God and someone I admired very much. What an example he set.

Jeeeeeeezus. 😳
Adolf Hitler's “Mein Kampf” is still on U.S. Naval Academy shelves. “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” and “Memorializing the Holocaust” are not.

An order by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s office led to a purge of books that are critical of racism — but preserved volumes defending white power.
Who’s In and Who’s Out at the Naval Academy’s Library?

What an absolute mess this is going to be. I feel real bad for anyone who has to deal with this.

The team bottom of the Championship beat the Premier League leaders in the FA Cup.

It's Plymouth Argyle who will be in tomorrow's fifth round draw — Liverpool are out.

Musk, Zuckerberg and Bezos are working with Trump for one very simple reason:

They understand that Trump's policies are designed to make the wealthiest Americans even richer.

These three men have become $232 billion richer since November.

Not bad in a couple of months time!

leaving the cruelty aside for just a minute it's absolutely humiliating to imagine being my age or older and getting excited because you think you've been given permission to say a bad word. what are you gonna do next, ride your tricycle past the end of the block
I guess I'm too woke because I find the proliferation of this really off-putting and gross. The fact that it's now reached the "enlightened centrists" class is depressing.

I wish we could have bet on the chance that at least 1 of these clowns would leave him off their ballot for attention.
With 393 of 394 votes, Ichiro Suzuki fell one tally short of being the second unanimous Baseball Hall of Fame election.

My 17 month old son just sat through this entire thing completely transfixed and at several points broke out in to air drumming. I’ve never been more proud.
