Illinois state officials have given national rental car companies official notice that ICE agents using their vehicles are not allowed to swap the rental’s assigned license plates for other plates to disguise the vehicles, and if they do, the rental car companies could be held liable.

We reject any attempts to push for Mayor Bowser to serve another term. Her policies have undermined the 700,000 residents of the District of Columbia and put us all at risk of harm by collaborating with the Trump administration.

Under an amendment from @cmzparker5.bsky.social and @cmfrumin.bsky.social, revenue from the decoupling with go to increase the city's match on the Earned Income Tax Credit and to restore the Child Tax Credit. Benefits of the first will be seen next year, but the CTC will be delayed until 2027.

NEWS: The D.C. Council just voted unanimously to decouple 13 provisions of the city's tax code from the federal code. It's a step to avoid some of the tax cuts (and loss of revenue) that would come from the GOP's tax bill passed earlier this year.
Confirmed: Next Tuesday the D.C. Council will consider a bill to decouple some of the local tax code from the federal one, in response to the GOP tax bill passed earlier this year. So, tips and OT pay will remain taxable, standard deduction for D.C. taxes won't change, etc.

Will D.C. end up footing the costs for SNAP food benefits should federal funding lapse this weekend? @cmfrumin.bsky.social tells me a decision from @mayorbowser.dc.gov should come by tomorrow.
NEWS: D.C. is joining 22 other states in suing the Trump administration over its decision to not tap contingency funds to cover SNAP benefits for November. Funding for SNAP will lapse this weekend because of the shutdown, and in D.C. almost 140,000 residents could be impacted.
