I spoke to @autisticadvocacy.org's Greg Robinson and @drstevenkapp.bsky.social about the awful autism presser yesterday. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

If you have questions around the issue of #Tylenol (acetaminophen) and #Autism read the research yourself. Even just the summary.

Don’t trust politicians who have an agenda.

Trump's federal funding cuts are shutting down studies on Alzheimer’s care, uterine fibroids and pregnancy risks — all because they focus on gender.

Hoping this is true and praying it will last. The losses are already too high.
🚨🚨I can confirm Gaza ceasefire deal has just been accepted and signed by Israel and Hamas.

Announcement will be out soon.

Qatar, US, and Egypt will guarantee the phased plan implementation.

This is a developing story… further updates will follow.

This is fabulous - I had no idea the search function factored in alt text.

Please alt text your images so we can make Bluesky inclusive for everyone. If you don’t know how, folks will help you!

Tag #Alt4Me and wonderful volunteers will show up to provide alt text for you.
yet another reason to alt text: it is SOOO much easier for people to search your posts that way! they can do “from:(your @)” and a key term and boom

Many folks may not have a full understanding of the potential breadth and scope of executive orders and how they can shift the priorities and processes of every Federal agency. This likely WILL impact you in some way, so getting an idea is probably helpful.
What are executive orders — and how do presidents use them?

Here’s what to know about them and the scope of their power ahead of the start of Trump's second term.

Artists and creatives provide joy with their work. They educate and entertain and encourage us to view everything just a little bit differently; making our world just a little bit bigger. Share their names. Share their work. It lets them keep creating and makes the world better and more magical.
Last year, an author mentioned my shop on her substack. It changed my income so drastically that this is the spike of orders from that *one* mention last year. Word of mouth for an artist can change everything.

To be bold. To be daring. To speak not with words, but with actions. And to stand firm in the protection of those most vulnerable.
With 2024 winding down, what is one wish you have for America in the New Year?

Yes, the right and far right have absymal violent and eugenicist takes on disability.
That is not an excuse for those on the other end of the spectrum to either ignore disability or mock disabled people when they bring up disability related issues.
First it was COVID/masks.
Now, its assisted dying.

December 3, International Day of Persons with #Disabilities. The theme for 2024 is “Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future”. I want to take a minute to lift up the disabled filmmakers who built #RENEGADESPBS.

I got to talk with Dr. Susan Lacy, a plaintiff in the huge trans rights Supreme Court case going to oral argument on Weds. Here's what the case could mean—for trans folks *and* for states' power to restrict sex-specific forms of healthcare (birth control, IVF) www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
This Supreme Court case could change everything for trans rights.
US v. Skrmetti could slow the wave of anti-trans laws—or tell policymakers it's "open season."

As someone who uses
alt text to “see” images this is a great, useful, addition to your posts. And your alt text doesn’t have to be perfect. It may seem intimidating but it isn’t hard and isn’t time consuming. Here’s how to do it.
If you're seeing encouragement/demands to do alt text and you're overwhelmed or confused about how to do it and you're worried you're going to do it wrong...

this thread is for you.

First: prompt questions to get you started.
Alt text prompt Qs:

What would someone who can't see the image need to know about it in order to take part in the conversation? What is it about this image that made you choose it? What are the important details someone who could see the image would take away from it?

(Not for images of text.)
