In this video, I cover a true story that turned me from a skeptic into a believer — my encounter with a psychic who predicted events in my life I thought were impossible to foresee.

I cannot recommend this book strong enough. Wolf helps us understand the current political and educational crises unlike any other because she connects the far apart dots of reading physical books/printed media and society’s slide away from empathy and reason. Get the actual book. Seriously.

Because they're facist 😭 i think people keep thinking I'm exaggerating when I say that but I'm not. And it's not new. A newspaper that would knowingly employ a nazi sympathizer as Berlin bureau chief because he got them access to Hitler is not a paper that will help uphold democracy.
I looked at 38 papers. The NYT was one of only a few not to have it as the top story and photo

The handful of exceptions were pretty much all places with a big D1 football game

I genuinely don't understand why the NYT is so reticent to give coverage to one of the largest protests in history

Dr. David Shorter has been a regular commentator on the search for extraterrestrial intelligence and space exploration. Both activities, he says, are currently duplicating the previous prejudices and egocentrism that caused widespread violence on earth.

Caring for the whole individual is not something U.S. healthcare provides due to pharma and insurers, as well as narrow training in medical schools. Medical schoola should require not just community engagement, but also the Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities.

For those not paying attention, the Univ of California has in the last month sent letters to faculty saying they cannot earn money outside their job; that social media posts will be reviewed and linked to promotions; and that faculty allegiance to UC will be reviewed by a non-local committee.

It's my experience (from 25 yrs of teaching) that "learning management" tools like Canvas do nothing to facilitate student learning & make my job MORE, not less, time consuming. That additional time I put in contributes zero to improving the student experience. But Canvas gets our money regardless.
