I hear you. We might have expected them to grow out of such barbary by now. Mind you our tollereance has slipped, so who are we to talk! It's simply a matter of degree?

I think you are comparing when they had a strongly mercantile economy with the more recent incementsl improvement, great leader approves new 5 year plan approach.
We must play to our strengths as they are theirs. Maybe we just learn Chinese!

One area command economy's fail at but capitalist ones excel at is leaps and bounds innovation.
We did start the whole thing of Wind Solar and Storage technology, we just let fossil fuel producers and products keep their extraordinary subsidies. China has less quality fossil fuels of its own.

This is very similar to the UK and USA CO2 emissions story. The difference is that China is now, in addition, manufacturing way more renewables than a whole UK, each year, or over half an annual USA total consumption!!
As you say, it's still not fast enough! The UK and USA must compete too.

A meteorological mic drop going on on Florida's Gulf coast.
I'm sat outside reading tonight ~1700 miles closer to the pole, in England and it's nowhere near freezing (+10°C). Book a flight!

I've never seen a model come up with such. I had believed the southern polar region would almost always be some clear way behind the northern hemisphere polar regions warming.
We have passed an ugly point of deep significance.
Is it time to panic yet‽

Here's a look at the extent of the "warmth" across the #Arctic in October. This map uses my normal anomaly scaling for each month, but it clearly doesn't work for something this extreme.

It seems to me the jerk powered version from your excellent blog piece looks more realistic.
Why shouldn't the end of everything we hold dear be the subject of a little fun along the way‽

Well no actually not everything on my news is driven by corrupt disinformation. Who I chose to listen to and the value I put on their content, is up to me/us.
Follow good people and curate your own news feed with their help. Throw in a few wild cards ;-) for spice and variety and you are healthy!

We have ~3/4 of a million brownfield sites homes ready to go, with permission. The greedy builders are just trying to get approval for green field sites, because they make more profits on building on them.
Build these out first!!

Bill, it's what people voted for, it's what they want. Ooo, sorry that was the Tories.
Moving on, with that theme, this is now under the party known as Labour. ;-(
Strange how their socialism has evidently been perverted. #JustSaying

Given these AI chips in space will need significant radiative cooling surface areas, could we double up and use those areas as emergency sun shades for earth until the awful fossil fuel CO2e has dissipated?

I sort of agree with his strategy. Too many, once +1.5°C is accepted as passed will focus on +2°C. I want to fight for every tiny fraction above +1.5°C, because each means a greater loss of blood and treasure we can avoid.
+3.2°C +-0.5°C by 2100 looks favourite at present, which is truly awful!
