When suppertime came, the old cook came on deck sayin'
"Fellas, it's too rough to feed ya"
At seven p.m., a main hatchway caved in, he said
"Fellas, it's been good to know ya"

I remember hearing this lyric as a kid and realizing they all died. It was a profound experience.. 50 years today...

I just can't understand the joy killers. The folks that lurk on Al Gore's Internet to tell someone their favorite restaurant, band or movie sucks. "Oasis sucks and Taylor Swift ruined football. Only tourists eat deep dish..You're stupid" That's sad that's all you have. "Shut up, libtard."

Wages of unionized workers are 13% higher than their nonunion counterparts.

But unions also set a higher pay standard that all workers enjoy.

In high-union-density states, median household income is $12,000 higher than in low-union-density states.

This is why unions are vital.

@schmutzie.bsky.social knows how much I revere the Apollo astronauts, but this is a great Ed Farmer story. I was doing Cubs Radio at the Rate one time and Capt. Lovell was the VIP guest. He did Sox radio and there was a tap at the door. It was a kid from Sox PR. Ed needs you. I stepped out and.
Astronaut Jim Lovell, famed Apollo 13 commander, dies at 97
Lovell was also the first astronaut to go to space four times and part of the Apollo 8 crew, the first to launch on the Saturn V rocket and first to orbit the moon.

I've been thinking about how dumb the Internet has made things. I posted a picture of a pizza on X. It got hundreds of retweets which ultimately had most of the East Coast angry at me. Name calling... Threats of violence. It was a picture of a pizza. A tasty treat. I pulled the post down.
