The main story on BBC 6 Music News this morning is that a ‘boat carrying migrants is on its way to France’

Delivered in the same upbeat tone as England winning the women’s Euros.

The migration ‘debate’ in this country is unmoored from reality, and the media-political complex is feeding it

It melts my head that X is still used for official Government communications, and, catching up on today's news and the fact we have a foreign billionaire inciting violence on our streets, it's clearer than ever that this should end.

Nick Robinson just asked John Curtice if the BBC giving a platform to Farage & Reform was responsible for their popularity; presumably hoping to hear the polling guru say a resounding "no".

Instead, Curtice said, "it's not just that, it's also how he uses it"

So the answer's clearly yes.

Although Marmite, Melvyn has helped make “In our time” a jewel in the BBC’s crown. Engaging, Eclectic & Educational, it is what BBC does best. I hope the new presenter is a worthy replacement & not appointed to appeal to youth, like on other shows, it’d be unnecessary, it’s already popular with -35s

No shit! Boomers & to a lesser extent Generation X have left a fucked up world for the kids! They got house-price boom, triple locked defined benefits pensions. They profited from a growth at all cost economy that has stripped away workers rights & protections, so now work is harder, longer.. 🧵

While the BBC continues to cosplay as a billionaire owned Fleet Street rag, over-platforming far-right voices, actual local journalism is under attack. The BBC’s editorial decline an act of national self-harm on a par with Brexit.

When Labour in the future say you have to vote for them to stop Reform – remember there are countless reasons that argument is equal parts absurd and offensive.

But 26th August 2025 should stand out for their complete capitulation to the right.

Absolutely shameful.
No10 spokesman not prepared to criticise anything about Farage speech today.

Not his description of "invasion", not his prediction that the UK on brink of civil war, not plans to pay the Taliban or Iran to take back migrants, or indeed to rule out doing so themselves.

Reform UK, which has a grand total of four MPs, was just given an uninterrupted platform for an hour and a half on the BBC and Sky News channels, in order to talk about its plans for mass deportations

When was the last time the Greens (with four MPs) or the Lib Dems (with 72) were given the same?

The question bears repeating: why are the establishment UK news media continuing to claim that mass anti-migrant protests are erupting across the country when they are simply not?
Sunday protests seem to be < 500 nationwide, maybe < 300, across 4-6 locations

Yet ITV news using language of "erupt nationwide" (!)

Epping: 100-150
London: 20
Birmingham: 30
Stevenage: 30-50
Norwich: ? anything of any scale
Manchester: ? anything of any scale
