Awesome film. And (please excuse the little plug) I wrote a book about it 🙂

Feeling snotty and under the weather today so my comfort viewing is old 70s disaster films. Just finished Airport 77, one of my all time favourites, and about to start Gray Lady Down which, shamefully, I've never seen before.

I wish they still made films like this.

Our Piper at the Gates of Dawn jumper stirred a bit of Satanic Panic! Thank you, @davidmbarnett.bsky.social, for covering this story for The Guardian.

Absolutely this 👇
Also a reiteration that, just because you have, or come from, wealth, doesn't mean you know the first thing about economics.
As I rapidly approach my 60th Birthday I am increasingly enraged by being called a 'kid' by folks that are younger than me because I support policies which threaten their unquestioned lives of privilege. Thomson is only 2 years younger than me, but she has had a much narrower life.

And today it's the turn of The Times to try and patronise us all.

Every single day the right wing establishment tries to close ranks.

And every day we are growing.

Let's see a show of hands.

“Rosalind Franklin’s notes.”

@aiannucci.bsky.social love the latest Strong Message Here with Stewart Lee. Your discussion re the diet of pacifying truth and fiction we're fed via the media put me in mind of Nigel Kneale's 60s drama play, The Year of the Sex Olympics. He'd predicted the here and now about 50 years ago.

Neurologically speaking, there's no such thing as 'useless' subjects or 'rip-off' degrees

Insisting we should only teach useful subjects is like saying science should only do research that gives positive results

If you honestly believe that's how anything works, *your* education was the wasted one
