Super lucky to have Birdcage Walk in our neighbourhood.

This is a very Positive move. There are many places in our neighbourhoods where a little retail shop or cafe, or workshop would thrive and provide great services
At #VictoriaBC Council, we will soon be looking at allowing small-scale commercial in residential areas.
This is part of our OCP update: engage.victoria.ca/ocp

We should bring back corner retail, restaurants, and cafes in residential zones.

Yup more to be done @davethompsonvic.bsky.social
If the plan does not gain a severe reaction, if nobody is opposed to it, you have to wonder if it matters, i know sounds odd but plans that are game changers elicit negative responses Planning is about who get what
but thanks for responding,
Yes. Go Victoria is multimodal. And staff are adding crosswalks, removing dangerous slip lanes, adding tactile pads (yellow bumps at curb cuts for visually impaired), milling sidewalk bumps, widening sidewalks, integrating pedestrian, cycling, underground, paving projects, etc. More to be done.

@mattdellvictoria.bsky.social ; @davethompsonvic.bsky.social @kristaloughton.bsky.social;
Victoria deserves, no requires a pedestrian plan as assertive and robust as the bike lane plans...
IMPORTANT: Paris has been implementing a 5-Year Pedestrian Plan:
- 300 million € invested by 2026
- 100 new hectares of pedestrian space
- 100 more “streets for kids”
- Focus on 0 pedestrian deaths #VisionZero
- Longer pedestrian cross times geared to seniors

Leadership.

Yes agree, he is taking right approach especially as compared to the Chicken Littles like Ford, Smith and some of the other Premiers...
Trudeau has made the right moves navigating Trump’s tariff pledge – if he won’t start fresh: The dinner at Mar-a-Lago and premiers' meeting earlier in the week form the correct approach to negotiating trade if the Prime Minister stays the course

Immigration Minister Marc Miller said Canada said illegal border crossings from Canada into U.S. pale in comparison to those from Mexico into U.S.
“In comparison to the border with Mexico, it's the equivalent, on a yearly basis, of a significant weekend at the Mexico border.”

It does not matter that it is an EV....why such a big car?, recently the CEO of Ford producer of the humungous F150 said that the industry needs to re focus on much smaller cars, There is little need for such vehicles especially in cities
Hyundai bets that bigger is better as it unveils all-electric Ioniq 9 SUV: Hyundai is keen to compare the Ioniq 9′s size to the Tesla Model X and the Rivian R1S, which both sell for at least six figures and are slightly smaller in most areas

and this from the creator of the Infamous Ford F 150, the biggest most successful "half ton or pick up truck ever built...a monster truck over 5 ft high at the grill
Did you see this? Ford’s CEO tells the truth, that the automaker needs a “radical change.”

“We are just in love with these monster vehicles. We have to start to get back in love with smaller vehicles. It’s super important for our society and for EV adoption.”

yup, the punks in the Leaders office riding herd on MPs, after all who the hell are they?, as PMPT once said: " They are nobodies 50 yards/meters from the House of Commons".......this over domination by minions in the leaders offices in every party at every level is NOT a good thing in governing...
I hadn't yet read this story this morning when a colleague explained it to me. When they got to the bit about speaking time pegged to behaviour I said "Like a sticker chart for a kid learning to use the potty?!" Apparently so!

well, duh!, like yeah!, who else has the time and the experience but us old white guys, with some money or at least a line of credit and a house but most importantly a lot of time on our hands and the need to tell people what they SHOULD DO... 😀
Every time somebody looks at the demographics of whom participates in "engagement" at the local level they find the same thing: mostly old, white, wealthy, well-housed (and often car drivers)

Sound suggestions...especially re Wilkinson...he has proven himself in energy and previously in Environment...he can do more for this government and the country, he would also be formidable in relations/negotiating with US
"A cabinet shuffle is a chance to increase your chances of clawing back. Will it save the government? No. Can it, done properly, help? Yes. These are five plausible ideas that would help this government. I hope they take them"
