You might think they should have acted sooner, but it is very clear Starmer and the government are here to take on the racists and they are repeating that message very clearly.

Think how Starmer has handled Trump is probably one of the few areas where most people think he's done ok, but it just shows how out of touch Conservatives are that they think there's any kind of support out there for the national broadcaster 'grovelling' to Trump. Bizarre.
Conservative Shadow Culture Secretary Nigel Huddleston tells GB News that the BBC should "grovel" to Trump.
Amazing how many British 'patriots' are spending their time telling our national broadcaster to prostrate itself before a hostile foreign leader

Suspect public sympathy/support for the beeb would increase should Trump decide to try and destroy it.

The far-right is coming for everything - the BBC is just tip of the iceberg. Give it power and it will take control of the courts, the Electoral Commission, the universities, the school curriculum and all other organs of civic power. The aim is very simple: never losing power again.

Maybe Keir should demand the heads of major US news networks any time they imply Britain is on the brink of civil war or that we live under sharia law. Or does it not work both ways?

One thing not being said - indeed, I think everyone misses this - but the requirement for the BBC to show impartiality and balance relates to the politics of *this* country, there’s no requirement to show some mythical balance globally, only to report the truth without fear or favour.

I don't think it bias at the BBC, it's mediocrity. Laura K is a lazy interviewer. Chris Mason is a bland over promoted 'won't rock the boat' political editor, R4 today hasn't got one decent presenter, good programmes have been axed or gutted - see Newsnight etc. And on and on...

I simply do not believe they would have resigned if it was a misleading claim about someone on the left.
How is this different to the HIGNFY claims about digital ID a few weeks ago? The BBC literally laughed it off.

Starmer can't say this publicly but it's what he and Labour should be telling the BBC very clearly and aggressively in private.
The resignations of Tim Davie and Deborah Turness must be an opportunity for the BBC to turn a new leaf, rebuild trust and resist those like Nigel Farage who want to destroy it
We must stand up for a strong, independent BBC, to stop Trump’s America becoming Farage's Britain.

Turns out the bbc top brass have resigned over that story I wasn't really paying much attention to. (I honestly don't know. I switch off at the mere mention of Trump.)
