Reasonably warm in the studio this morning and my first painting in what seems like absolutely months. I don’t know what’s happened, but I actually felt like putting brush to paper today. Anyway, this is… ‘No, it’s not snow’, watercolour, 38x42cms

If you’ve never heard the sound of pebbles being scraped back to sea by a receding wave, have a listen to this! I’ll never forget the first time I heard this - March 2012 on Vík beach. This is Malarrif last weekend.

Dap H35W96D35cms another one of my favourites. Dap” is a friendly gesture of greeting, agreement, or solidarity.
I like to think this piece is a symbol of togetherness, people coming together. A linking of thoughts & life, personal opinion & my background all tied up in this piece

I’m rather ashamed to say that I haven’t attempted to make any new work for over a month.

I've made some small drawings on wood of ships, in the North Sea. Paintings to follow I think. Drawn from the umpteen thousand photos I have of them. I'm enjoying the grain of the wood getting involved.

Shutter speed is such a powerful tool in photography. This is slowed down to 1/10th second (& on a tripod) so the falling snow looks like vertical lines of rain. Taken last January on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula in #Iceland as the weather worsened, when I still had the courage to venture out a bit...

Bought a ‘new’ camera so I could go out in the rain, but it was sunny this morning, so went out anyway.

Photographers… I have a Fuji XE2 but is it worth getting a XT1 as well (for the weather resistance), or is that a waste of money?
