The beavers have arrived. We knew they were a few miles downstream but now have reached our stretch of river. I have just installed a trail cam.

In April, I was ‘disappeared’ from air at LBC. It was a disorienting, distressing & isolating experience. Unknown to me, 1 listener, a respected scientist, began an unprecedented petition to express his concern. 40,000 of you signed it. I’d never met that listener - until... @davidpnoble.bsky.social
For those no longer on X, my news of the day, week, month - no year (!) is that @sangitamyska.bsky.social and I have finally met. She is everything you'd expect and more. This friendship was forged in the strangest of circumstances, and I'm sure it will endure.

I like winter landscapes. The bones of the land are visible. This painting is showing at the Watermill Gallery in Aberfeldy

One of the paintings in the Watermill Gallery, Aberfeldy. Egg tempera painters mix pigment with egg yolk. The pigment is the same as you would find in oils or watercolour paints. The binder is egg yolk. One of my favourite pigments is potter's pink evident in the birch woods in the middle distance.

I am attracted to white in a landscape. Foam, snow, clouds provide a stark contrast with the rest of the landscape. A contrast the eye is drawn to follow #eggtempera #boscastle

Because Egg Tempera is used on rigid gessoed panels the painting can be cut down to the dimensions that work best compositionaly. As this one has. #eggtempera #eggtemperapainting #landscape

An old one. This started as part of a large painting that I struggled with. There was one part I liked and kept . It seems appropriate for this time of year.

The big chill……Huge thanks to the Bruton Art Society council for selecting this watercolour ‘Winter stream’ for their Christmas card. It’s from a chilly snow-covered walk in a Lake District temperate rainforest last year. On show at Adrian Hill Fine Art #snowpainting #watercolour #drawingartist

This is one for the Small Paintings exhibition in the Morningside Gallery. It is only 10 x 8 inches. Because Tempera painting is built up using lots of tiny paint strokes I find small paintings present a challenge. Each stroke is more visible. #eggtempera #morningsidegallery.co.uk
