Scientists are naturally conservative with predictions. It's unfortunately the case that climate change is generally happening much faster than those conservative predictions. All the more reason for urgency from governments.
"But temperatures have been even higher than most climate models.. had predicted.
Analysis of these models.. suggests that sea temps observed across the n Pacific in August had less than a 1% chance of occurring in any single year."

The future is coming. Fast.
Mysterious 'warm blob' breaks records in the North Pacific Ocean
Temperatures have surged across a large area of the north Pacific - and scientists don't know exactly why.

Wastewater treatment plants are a major source of pharmaceutical pollution, study finds
Municipal wastewater treatment plants are ineffective at removing Prozac (fluoxetine) and other common pharmaceuticals in wastewater, causing the drugs to be discharged into lakes, rivers and streams where they pose a risk to aquatic organisms.

This is the playbook, folks.

If you're not paying attention now and doing something about it, then you're going to have to sit down the rest of your life because democracy is being taken away.

🧵 Farage is whipping up anger against the ECHR with false claims (see thread).

As The Bear brilliantly writes: “The ECHR [is] the foundation that protects you from your own government.”

That's why leaving the ECHR would be a Really Bad Idea.

@eastangliabylines.co.uk @bearlypolitics.co.uk
Leaving the ECHR won’t “Take Back Control” – it will hand your rights to politicians
The myths are seductive, the reality is very different – without the ECHR your freedoms rest on whichever Home Secretary wakes up grumpy

There’s a persistent myth that new solar farms don’t really help tackle climate change because panels are “made with coal” and “never pay back” their carbon debt.

This is simply false.

- UN: solar ~8x cleaner than gas, ~19x than coal per kWh
- panels repay CO2 in 4 months; save 57x over life
