The UK isn’t a “soft touch” on asylum.

UK asylum seeker benefits are similar to European neighbours

No right to work before 12 months (it’s 6 months in France, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands)

UK settlement after 5 years (it’s 3 or 4 in Germany)

Let’s cut out the alarmist rhetoric.

Government can impose all the house building targets it likes on local Councils, but bottom line is developers will only build what they can sell.

Policy on house building needs a serious rethink to give Councils a real chance to build homes themselves.

Fantastic commentary. Every word rings true.

Will the Government step up to put right the sabotage inflicted by Tory appointees? And will it act to put the BBC on a firm long term foundation?
What you’re witnessing is a populist assault on the BBC.

This is not an institutional scandal in any meaningful sense of the word. It is an attack on public service broadcasting.

The campaign has drawn scrutiny, with critics saying it is not realistically portraying the country’s diversity and is sending messages that feel exclusionary.
