The irony, as others have pointed out, is that while Kirk may have said “we have to engage in debate,” it’s precisely that — debate — many supporters of Kirk want to stop about his life and legacy. It’s certainly why folks are getting fired.
What else are you supposed to hear when someone says that very accomplished Black women lack the “brain processing power” to be taken seriously? Is that merely “inflammatory” or disagreeable, or something more?

Nichols makes a good point that the comparisons to Nazi Germany might not be the best. The real comparison here is with the USSR. Trump is Stalin, not Hitler, willing to make examples rather than scapegoats of perceived enemies. It’s all about party loyalty and Trump is the party.
Nichols: Even though these guys come across as clowns, they're clowns with flamethrowers.. They have the machinery of government behind them. These are people that normally would be struggling to hold on to middle management jobs in a department store somewhere
