That moment when you decide casting pedophilia and rape a less serious act because you think (or know) the politician you've hitched your wagon to quite possibly partook in such acts.

What's she teaching her 14-year old daughter right now?

I understand why the 8 Democrat senators chose to support the government funding bill.

They saw a tyrant hurting the citizenry and surrendered. And now millions will still suffer long-term and the aforementioned tyrant will be emboldened to continue hurting the citizenry to get what he wants.

So is their issue the autopen or his "cognitive decline"? Because if it's the former then the decline is irrelevant and they're discriminating against everyone who can't physically sign, or it's the latter and the autopen use is irrelevant and a distraction.

Either way they're full of shit.
GOP-led Oversight Committee says Biden pardons signed by autopen are ‘void’ in final report | CNN Politics
Former President Joe Biden experienced such “cognitive decline” while in office that it remains a serious question as to whether he was aware of the substance of the various pardons and commutations s...

There are those who can openly and admittedly cherry-pick Christianity for the good bits, and so long as they're not being hypocritically judging of others, that's fine.

But then you have those who use it as an appeal to moral authority and they can't seem to last 5 minutes in a rational debate.

It's pretty bad when a religious leader has a clear rational high ground in calling out others' hypocrisies.
Pope Leo XIV nails it: US obsession with anti-abortion "pro-life" rhetoric rings hollow amid the cruel detention of immigrants fleeing peril, stripping away dignity for kids and families alike. #ImmigrantRights

A bit hyperbolic but it certainly seems to have a sizable element of truth.
The Venn diagram of "people who say the Second Amendment is necessary in case the government turns tyrannical" and "people very happy about ICE pulling terrified naked kids out of Chicago apartments and zip tying them up" is a perfect circle.

Right wingers define "tyranny" as "minorities existing".

Sorry communists and anarchists, but a species that can't even reliably maintain democracy and has to fight tooth and nail not to be sucked into the void of autocracy, is nowhere near ready for statelessness and voluntarism. Try again in a thousand years or so.
October 3, 2025 at 5:05 AM
Oh this nails it.

The right-wing has given up every tenet and ideology it once professed gave them any form of moral high ground, all for the hopes of simply "owning the libs".

That road will only end in autocracy and oppression which, incidentally, will basically prove their enemies correct.

One of the many things that really pisses me off is that this surge in fascist ideology waited just long enough for our few remaining WW2 vets to see it happening as they exit the room. They'll leave us thinking their efforts were for nothing.

And just like that, our generals and admirals were reduced to toy soldiers, played with by a guy who'd sooner melt them under a magnifying glass than use them wisely and in accordance with the US Constitution.

There's nothing more embarrassing than the tone deafness of putting all these people in one room to shine a light on a meritocracy being lead by someone who fails upward.

Public schools should set time aside to watch sci-fi shows. They offer so many damned important moral, ethical, societal, and historical lessons. And many of them also celebrate critical thinking and the sciences.

There is a difference between righteous anger, directed at injustice, and hateful anger, directed at those who are different. Authoritarian regimes deliberately conflate the two to silence criticism and create false equivalence. It's important we don't let those in power succeed in this endeavor.

If they don’t want to be called Trump’s Gestapo maybe they shouldn’t act like the fucking Gestapo.
I was back at 26 Federal Plaza today, where an ICE agent violently threw this bereft woman to the ground in front of her kids. She had not touched him. She did not pose any threat. She had to be taken to the hospital. (🎥: Elias Eliahu)

In other First Amendment news, Arizona now joins many other states in requiring impractical age verification techniques on adult sites, resulting in the most mainstream ones just cutting access off from the state to avoid litigation, leaving people (and kids) hunting for the most dangerous ones.

Not to conspiracy theorize but I think there's the very real possibility this is him being careless and betraying the fact they're slowly (not so slowly?) building a pretext to declare martial law before the midterms.
