I'm seeing it again, so I'm going to tap the (sociology) sign...

We are a social species.
The bulk of what we do is performative.

So that's a silly criticism of demonstrations.

(Also you have no idea who's also ferrying groceries to their immigrant neighbors, so maybe tone down the sanctimony.)

Black veterans fought for freedom abroad and returned home to second class citizenship. Traveling while Black during Jim Crow was about survival, mobility, and dignity. The Green Book Project documents that story:

I'm old enough to have seen Fivel in the theatre.
It’s hard to believe but there was a cartoon about an immigrant mouse and it was seen as totally fine and not controversial and not woke because it was an aspirational and nice thing about America that people could come here and find a better life

My research team has published research showing that malnutrition and hunger in childhood are long-term risk factors for dementia decades later in life. Makes me think about the long-term health consequences of withholding SNAP benefits from families.

The party of "destroy regulations" could, I dunno, maybe start with abolishing this nonsense.
The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email
