Congrats to that one trans athlete in becoming state champ by default I guess
Holy shit - Gavin Newsom has clarified that this goes even further.

The transgender runner will compete "in her own category."

California is basically instituting a sports ban.

I'll be deleting my TikTok account soon.
I really need to do a channel update since I've taken a hiatus from puzzle content, but I'm going to use this account specifically for DataCrossPuzzles.
Find me @kevinweatherwalks.bsky.social to see what I've been up to lately.

Resist.

Trump can kiss our ass, no matter what. All media outlets and institutions should strike the same posture for as long as necessary.
Thread with AVCX’s revised editorial policy regarding Donald Trump:

In early 2017, AVCX announced a new editorial policy, namely that we as a feature would regard Donald Trump as an asshole when we referred to him in print.

there's a constant back and forth between "I hate how long recipes are" and "they need to do that for SEO purposes!" and I think we gotta ask like ... why is it good SEO to make your stuff worse, why have we built an internet that asks us to ruin good things in order for them to be seen

Are NYC police just looking for anybody wearing a dark, hooded jacket? This is gonna end with an innocent person going to prison isn't it?

Your money goes to the people who make the puzzles, the staff (all puzzle people), and that’s it. No VCs, no unconscionable media outlets, just the people who do the work.

Really exciting update on the AVCX subscription drive: one generous donor has given *$5,000* to the AVCX Cryptic! Along with other money on hand, this means that Cryptic is now fully funded for 2025.

I enjoyed solving this @lilavcx.bsky.social puzzle! Much more enjoyable than getting punched in the face and saying 6D.

Since we added the new payment
tiers, we’ve gotten lots of Angel subscribers (~$100/year), but also lots of scholarship subscribers (~$15/year). It rules to be able to do it this way. We want everyone to have access no matter what you got and that’s exactly what’s happened

The AVCX … is having a hell of a day. Thank you. This is probably our single biggest day for subscriptions ever, and it’s going to go a long way in helping us be viable next year. There’s more to do, but this is pretty incredible. Again, thank you.
