Just some guy from Des Moines who enjoys his comics, books, movies, music, and attempting to write anything halfway readable.

I got rid of all of my social media about five years ago. I didn't enjoy the negativity, toxicity, or being a product of data sales and hoarding. But I've decided that this platform does show some merit and have reluctantly decided to give it a shot with an open mind. Let's see how day one goes.

As Heather Cox Richardson writes, The Epstein story is about more than the sex trafficking of girls. It's also about rich and privileged people evading accountability for breaking the law." People like Donald Trump, in other words.

What can be done to get this approved?!
Petition?
Kickstarter campaign?
Selling my soul to Paul and Gene?
I'm prepared to do what is necessary.
For around a decade now, there have been two movies I'd pretty much sell my soul to get updated restorations of. The first is Kevin Smith's Dogma- which we've finally gotten. The second is Adam Rifkin's Detroit Rock City. CRIMINALLY underappreciated flick!

So far, my favorite part about this platform (when I actually use it) is that it's still new enough that some people I'd be interested in following may not have an account today, but next week they might. Granted, I mainly follow comic creators, filmmakers, etc.- but it's still pretty cool 🤘🏻

First Con in 10 years was not a disappointment. Came with two goals, and both were met. Huge thanks to @philhester.bsky.social and Charlie Cox for making Des Moines Con a success and helping out with a big step forward in restoring my comics collection 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

“It’s amazing that others in this room underwrote electing a man who, in the last week, single-handedly destroyed all of American science. It’s amazing how much good science you can destroy with $320 million and RFK Jr, very fast.”

I made this Bluesky account with the intention and hope of avoiding interaction with the political climate of the country. If I'm going to waste time on a social media platform, I want it to involve things that make me happy. Having said that, this is important information everyone should read:

AMERICAN PSYCHO was released 25 years ago today. A modern cult classic, and the film that kick-started the huge career of star Christian Bale, the story behind the scenes is as entertaining as Huey Lewis and The News…

As someone who grew up treated as less than human for differences out of my control, these points are among the many reasons why my life is so deeply threaded with my love for these mediums and forms of storytelling. They offered me a world I could enjoy being in when the "real" world was not.

Also, I've just realized those daily challenge things I attempted when I signed up for this platform were a collective bust.

I prefer the term "common sense," but that's neither here nor there.
Charles Darwin destroyed the foundation of orthodox Christianity. There is nothing left but faith in what we know could not and did not happen. Religion and science are enemies. One is a superstition; the other is a fact

Since I missed last year, I'm psyched about buying my DSM Con pass just now 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
The mission:

Phase 1) see if @philhester.bsky.social will sign my Green Arrow omni.
Or Swamp Thing. (Carrying two omnis is murder, even with a bag.)

Phase 2) meet Charlie Cox.

Failure is not an option.
