When I tell you, well, I don’t drink Starbucks coffee any other time either, I’m not being a snob.

I don’t drink coffee 😅

Anyway, still not crossing that line!

Even when your life is going well, losing someone under tragic circumstances is just a thing that can resurface on any random, seemingly-unrelated day just to pull you back toward those hard times.

Human I do not trust that despite the fact that every other time you take my food dish it appears full moments later, that it will appear full this time.

One sad thing about the new Pittsburgh Airport terminal is that it optimizes away the people mover.

The rubber-tired, automated people mover has a unique historical tie to the city: a late-60s rapid transit proposal would have used basically this technology.

"Dog Bites Man" isn't news. "Dog shoots man"? Now THAT'S news!
In rural Pennsylvania, police say a man was accidentally shot by his own dog proving once and for all that “man’s best friend” has limits, especially when it comes to firearm safety.

it's funny that one of the people on bluesky's board made a "social media head of trust and safety simulator" game years back, and the way to get a five star rating was to stand up for sex workers and tell the government to fuck off and die

It’s USL Championship League Eastern Conference Finals time!

Hello from The Guild in Pawtucket. There’s also folks at the stadium and at the German American Cultural Society. We’re all pulling for RIFC today.

Thread on local housing production. The news is not great, but it’s still improved.
Great local news in #Providence, #RhodeIsland courtesy of the city's 2025 #Housing Progress Report. In fiscal year 2025, the city permitted *857* housing units, and provided occupancy certificates for another 453. These numbers show remarkable growth over the last 2 years.

Not sure the occasion, but the MBTA ran a special train for VIPs from South Station to Foxboro and then Davisville RI today. Drawn by the MBTA “cranberry” and Boston&Maine heritage locomotives, here it passes the cove at Apponaug.

Okay well, all that needed to happen to fix this was the director of our state transportation agency to offer an infuriatingly obstructionist afternoon of testimony.

Yes, but he can’t remember his name!

(They’re talking about the person overseeing the RIDOT Bridge Inspection Program now. Alviti does not know the name of his multi year employee in that role)
Well, you see. Alviti knows a guy.

Successfully replaced the wax ring on the toilet and eliminated the issue that caused it to fail (toilet not mounted snug to the flange) without breaking a nail. Can I get a W.

One of the parts of their work is empathy maps. To say I am psyched to be asked to look at their work is an understatement.

I had a social justice class in high school in 1990 that I didn’t appreciate until later. That these kids are trying to better their world now? You love to see it.
In happier news, my work with the local Health Equity Zone means I’m apparently an esteemed elder whose input is being welcomed for the local middle school kids proposing parks improvements as part of their civics education. (Yay!!)
