It’s wild being in your childhood bathroom looking in the mirror and thinking of that scared little girl nearly 50 years ago and what she saw, and didn’t see, in the mirror as you look in it.

(Not the same physical mirror, it was replaced once in that time)

My mother, while grousing about my father, mentioned his very specific memory of what items are in what locations and anyway I guess I get my issues honestly

I stopped to take this picture while biking yesterday (it’s the church used in the movie Dogma) and today one of the friends we’re visiting said she drove past me on this street and was surprised when she realized the cyclist was me and thus I was in town 🤣

Movie that’s supposed to be set near Philadelphia where the license plates on the cars are literally printouts, which you can tell by the fact that they’re *wrinkled* in one of the shots.

When I was in high school, my bus used this street. I looked at the excessive width and pushed, to no one who mattered, for bike lanes.

Only took another 30 years and for me to move away 😔

(The bridge that collapsed is a very short way behind me)

WEQX only really played Christmas music for the last two days of the season, and they managed to make any listener lose #LDB and #Whamageddon in the last 5 minutes.

Got to catch up with @zacktanner.com tonight for the first time in so long that the News Guild 38061 strike against the Post-Gazette that was just finally settled hadn’t even started yet last we chatted 🙃

Recognizing someone is local just by seeing the pic they used for the article

(It’s the I-195 Iway bridge, just outside the Fox Point Hurricane Barrier in Providence)
The "Lost Science" series from the NYT is an infuriating and heartbreaking must-read. What a security disaster -- more Americans are in harms way because of the loss of programs like this one:

On the topic of “empty homes” but also on how we let the mortgage crisis chase people out of what could still be affordable housing, all for nothing.

8. One of the biggest impacts from climate is extreme heat, which disproportionately affects low-income communities. We should make policies to ensure people do not die in climate-fueled heatwaves, and this includes access to air conditioning and energy efficiency iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1...

While there’s a monument to the Great Swamp Fight of 350 years ago, modern research suggests it may be misplaced and that the actual battle took place in what’s now Great Swamp management area. Well, 350 years and 2 days later, we’re here at Great Swamp management area.
