It's not everyday you get to be in a meeting with your cycling hero at work but it happened to me today 🤩 Lizzie Deignan joined our volunteering working parents network call and it was brilliant to hear how she's balanced being a mum and a professional cyclist 👏🚲💚

I am pretty excited for the Camden High Line, an elevated pedestrian route from Camden Town to King's Cross in London, designed by James Corner (the NYC High Line and Seattle Overlook Walk guy). It has planning permission and construction begins soon.

This is interesting — a recent study of mode share (the % share of transportation trips by car, transit, walking, biking etc) relative to city size and income levels in almost 800 cities in 61 countries. Interesting results. HT @davidzipper.bsky.social

By enabling people to buy e bikes through the scheme it encourages active travel and in many cases enables households to go car free. If we didn't have my husband's @ternbicycles.com GSD and my Cube e bike we might not be #carfree. Short sighted imho (and silly reporting on the Surrey hills point).

Love this, pavement etiquette really annoys me too. As does the sheer volume of space given over to vehicles in our cities. Pedestrians need more space in so many places.

Truth bomb 👇: Traffic lights exist for cars, not for people walking or cycling. Before cars, we didn’t need them. Only when intersections became controlled and no communication was necessary could high speeds exist without chaos. We traded human interaction for convenience for motorists and danger.

The most insanely frustrating thing about the #ClimateCrisis is how the breakthrough we so clearly need isn’t technological. It’s just a collective willingness, a determination even, to change in ways that would clearly be SO MUCH BETTER than the clear and obvious consequences of NOT changing.

Wow. We fight for better public/active travel in Oxford and it's not enough but Doug Ford is on another level 😭

I made an infographic map. Oxford's Congestion Charge scheme (from 29th Oct) is not like most congestion charge schemes, because you can get to most streets in the city without being charged. My impression is a lot of people haven't realised this.

Us too, we love train travel! Europe is so well connected by train now, we're exploring further afield and really enjoying it! #carfree #flightfree #trains
Every single time I take a train, be it a long haul between cities or the public transit variety, I’m furious that we did cars to ourselves.

It’s so much more pleasant than driving, taking a bus, or literally any part of taking a flight. I will always vote for trains if given the opportunity.
