Thinking back to that time when my awful sister-in-law asked me, an openly gay man, if I agreed with her that there were just too many gay characters on tv now. This was 6 years ago. Guess she got her wish.

As we enter the holiday season, I just want to present, for no one in particular, my rule for what makes a movie a Christmas movie or not:
Put simply, it is an Xmas movie if a key driver of the plot is Christmas.
Movies set during Xmas but with a generic story you can map to any season? Nope!

I watched Johnny Guitar this morning after having it on my list for some time based on all the hype @slimyswampghost.bsky.social built up for it. And you know what? It rules. Joan Crawford is a force of nature and it's just a beautifully colorful western with some of the sharpest dialogue I've heard
