It's World Town Planning Day and by happy coincidence I'm in one of the world's most planned cities

I first saw pictures of Brasília when I was about 11 - it's almost certainly the reason I became a town planner

Whatever you think of the outcome you can't help but admire the ambition and hope

Such a privilege to speak with and learn from this group of incredible leaders. I wish everyone who feels disillusioned with politics could be here to see that the overwhelming majority of political leaders choose to take on that responsibility out of a will to change things for the better.
Meet the mayors protecting the people and places we love. 💚 🌎

National governments continue to dither and delay on the climate crisis.

At the @c40cities.bsky.social World Mayors Summit, local leaders are pushing ahead with bold action.

When it comes to the future of our planet, now is not a moment to slow down, but to double down.

Who needs some good news? 🙋‍♂️

Today my amazing team at C40 are launching new research showing that emissions have peaked in 60 of our member cities - 75% of those for which we have sufficient data - meaning absolute emissions have reached their maximum and are now on a steady downward trend 📉

The most insanely frustrating thing about the #ClimateCrisis is how the breakthrough we so clearly need isn’t technological. It’s just a collective willingness, a determination even, to change in ways that would clearly be SO MUCH BETTER than the clear and obvious consequences of NOT changing.
