Caring For Each Other Is The Resistance

"...making connections w/ one another really does matter. Indeed, it is the antidote to the vitriol of the selfish mind. Each & every time we connect w/ one another we are defeating those who see no value in being human."

It is not the State that has too much power

It is that the positions meant to execute the power of the State have grown beyond their intent

Leaders are public servants, not omnipotent citizens free to do whatever they want

It’s time we drafted new laws to enforce better behaviour from our leaders

To be absolutely clear, I will not vote for Labour if they continue to support Israel’s genocide of the Palestinians.

I won’t be voting tactically

I don’t care who that lets into power

I’m not voting for a Party that can permit the wilful starvation of innocent people.

If anyone is interested in what Streeting’s announcement will mean on the ground, here is a great summary on Dr Triska’s newsletter.

It’s hard to work out the racist Christian. I mean, beyond the whole love thy neighbour thing, someone’s told them that Jesus wasn’t white, right?

The only viable solution to these dangerous NHS waits is to put bed capacity back to what it was in 2010.

If you shrink your health service as demands for it increases then it is not surprising people have to wait longer.

It’s not rocket science.

In economics, as in geopolitics, Trump fundamentally misunderstands the limits of American power. It is at the centre of everything he does. The markets, the only real impediment to him now, may be about to teach him how wrong he is.

New writing from me.

Again and again, Trump misunderstands the limits of American power.
And as a result is taking us to a global financial precipice.

If one person in one country can make one economic decision that leads to global turmoil then we have fundamental problem with the economic system itself.

🚨UPDATE: Rümeysa Öztürk has now suffered three separate asthma attacks while in DHS custody.

She has not received her required asthma medications—a violation of her fundamental right to medical care.

This is cruelty, it is neglect, and it is a damning moral and legal failure.

Labour’s vision for the NHS is getting grim
As Labour tries to please both private and public interests, its policies for the NHS are in danger of costing a lot and achieving little

There's quite a list, but @dangoyal.bsky.social makes a good point.

If someone can't be restrained from making civilians, hospitals, children the target of violence, or the weaponization of mass starvation and disease, that's someone who belongs in a cage.

While job losses are harsh, both the NHS CEO and the Chair did next to nothing as the Conservatives gutted the NHS. NHS Leadership is woefully inadequate. Time will tell if this is a power grab for Streeting or a much needed shake up. I suspect the latter
