Media standards:

1) No Democratic scandal on par with Trump-Epstein, so it’d be biased and unfair to five it much attention.

2) Trump wouldn’t be shamed into resigning and his cult of personality wouldn’t abandon him, so Trump-Epstein wasn’t worth pursuing.

Way too many think that’s journalism.

We cannot be a meaningfully representative democracy until we replace the Senate & single-member districts as currently structured with actually representative & democratic institutions

1. More Americans work at the Cheesecake Factory than in the entire coal industry, and that won't change. It's because of automation, not snooty libs.

2. Coal energy is now more expensive than wind and solar.

3. So this means: higher energy prices, more pollution, no jobs benefit. Genius!
Energy Secretary Chris Wright on Fox: "We're announcing today expanded programs to help the American coal industry. We're helping it because for years it has been under assault. It was out of fashion with the chardonnay set in San Francisco, Boulder, and NYC ... coal just makes the world go round."

Another example of the same phenomenon; they are killing people so they can make videos of them killing people. There is not actually any policy that Venezuela or Colombia can enact to satisfy them, because the purpose is just content creation. Podcasters with the power of the Federal government.
The US hit ANOTHER boat in the Caribbean today. Trump shared video of it, again accusing the crew of being drug traffickers. With 3 allegedly killed, this brings the total killed in all 3 attacks to 17 this month, per White House figures. New @taskandpurpose.com taskandpurpose.com/news/us-thir...

The attack is the third this month on alleged drug trafficking ships, as the US continues a military build up in the Caribbean.

This is the official spokesperson for the White House, stating that the President hopes to deploy the United States military to occupy every city controlled by the political party that opposes him. Explicitly.
Leavitt: "These are the bad guys that we are picking up in Washington DC every day. The president would love to do this in every Democrat-run city across the country."

To elaborate a bit on why inviting Putin to Alaska for talks on ending the war without Zelensky (or European allies) represents, among many other things, the death of US diplomacy 🧵1/
No, he’s not giving Putin Alaska, but he is giving Putin a huge gift: the legitimacy of touching down on US soil at the invitation of a US president. A reward for the full-scale invasion of a sovereign, democratic country that the United States and its European allies support.
Putin is COMING TO THE UNITED STATES? Even by Trump 2.0 standards, this is beyond belief. U.S. diplomacy is dead.

The #1 way to explain America working properly is by saying “comedians can make fun of he President on TV.” A good way to explain fascism is “the President forces companies to fire those comedians as a condition of allowing them to conduct business.”

Absolutely incredible that we are still getting mainstream denunciations of "trans activists" when the far-right fringe has far more odious views and sits much closer to power.

I know there's a lot going on, but the Secretary of Homeland Security declaring that federal troops are in California and Los Angeles to "liberate" the state and city from its duly-elected leaders really is a fourteen-alarm fire.
It's mind-blowing how little attention this extraordinary statement has received. It's briefly mentioned in a couple news articles, but this MSNBC opinion piece is the only extended discussion of it I've seen: www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...

The path to the end of Roe V. Wade was paved with abortion providers being killed, and clinics being bombed and set on fire.
I'm a believer in nonviolent resistance for moral reasons, and I think it can be incredibly powerful when well-planned and sustained, but don't tell me violence doesn't work. The people successfully rolling back my rights were sending bomb threats to children's hospitals.

The Qatari plane bribe gets more ridiculous. It’s a *used* plane (13 years old) that the USAF has to modify. It’s a massive NatSec risk. And the person signing off on legality is AG Pam Bondi who, until recently, was being paid $115k/month as a Qatari lobbyist www.lawfaremedia.org/article/the-...

2. They are claiming no recourse to return these individuals

3. They say they are open to deporting citizens in the same way

We’re in a full-blown crisis. The Supreme Court couched its language but was fairly clear that the Administration had to at least engage in a good faith effort to bring this guy back. These people are openly decrying the court and admitting they have taken no steps to try to do so.
Here's the link to the second filing today.

This sets off a major battle between the judiciary and the administration. It's clear that they will not bring him back unless commanded to do so, and they're rejecting any power of a judge to do so. We're careening towards a constitutional crisis.

Exactly. The chat shows there is no question that, at the highest levels of the Trump admin, people are deliberately and routinely avoiding the use of secure government channels of communication.

That's not a bookkeeping issue. It's mens rea, it's consciousness of guilt.
6/ This bizarre Houthi story is just a window in to what is almost certainly pervasive. You'll notice there are no comments in the chat thread with one of them saying, "hey is this weird that we're talking on Signal? Is this allowed?" Of course not because they do it all the time.

It is worth pausing to appreciate how bonkers the “national debt” debate has been in this trifecta. Every Republican lawmaker except Tom Massie and Rand Paul voted for a Trump agenda budget allowing a net deficit hike of trillions (House) or hundreds of billions (Senate).

This brain-dead take is becoming the conventional wisdom on the struggles of young men but it's false. From homelessness to suicide prevention to opioid regulations to higher minimum wages, Democrats' platform and rhetoric are *far* better for men than anything coming from the right.
If progressives want to win back young men, then they must talk to them and address their needs, instead of constant scolding. All the finger wagging just drives them to Rogan, Peterson, and the Tate brothers. And they DO talk to young men.

WIC. They are pausing WIC.

That's the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children. Last time I checked (a while ago), every dollar spent on WIC produced over a dollar in savings *in the same fiscal year.* For most people, though, feeding infants and mothers is enough.
Broader agreement that it to applies to discretionary spending payments (Head Start, WIC, etc).
