I'm agnostic on how many people one follows, or how one goes about following them - make your Bluesky experience what you want it to be - but I will say that if you follow me with the expectation I'll follow you back, you're gonna be disappointed. Follow me if you think, you know, I give good sky.
Today I discovered there's an app that folks can use to automatically follow people on Bluesky in the effort to build their own follower counts. Which helps explain some of what's going on. Can't say I care for it!

@maryangelica.bsky.social thanks for the follow and I love that you use the term natural hazards in your bio! I’ve been such a stickler for those who refer to disasters as natural but it often leads to some great discussions.

Also I've come to the conclusion that literally everyone I ever followed (or enjoyed seeing) on the former Twitter has migrated off the service; I'd say about 75% are primarily posting here and 25% are primarily on threads (and most are on both in some way). The replacement is entirely complete.

I’ve made an effort not to reinstall X and have not regretted it!
Thread for those new to BlueSky. First of all, welcome. It feels like a safer space, doesn’t it? But also perhaps a bit disorienting initially? Here’s some tips for getting your bearings.
