Environmental standards too difficult?
Lower the standards!
This was then followed today by the announcement that the Government had decided to designate a vast swathe of our rivers as heavily modified, meaning they don't have to reach the same high standards as other waterbodies under the WFD. Legal bar lowering in action.

"we promise we will prioritise public transport projects even if the Greens are gone"
- straight up lies
They've done it again, they've cut more rail projects. The most criminal one for me is cancelling the reopening of the Waterford-Wexford/Rosslare line. On the left is the All-island Rail Review published by the last government and on the right is the plan published today.

We're at 3% in Ireland.

Batteries on trains should only be seen as a stop-gap but there's no ambition to electrify rail in Ireland.

The all Island rail review even includes new lines which won't be electrified.
Indian Railways will be fully electrified next year (it’s at ~99% currently)
UK is at 38% with tentatively another 12-13% new electrification committed
Indian Railways is building a 7000km high speed rail network by 2047
We can’t even get ours all the way from central London to central Birmingham
