It's shameless. The number of charities and campaigners who have said for over a year that this would be the single most effective way to address child poverty in England. She could have actually done something. But it's only politically convenient for her now

This looks like an ideal opportunity for pro-independence civil disobedience. The British state has never given up anything without a struggle.
I am opposed to mandatory digital ID - people should be able to go about their daily lives without such infringements.
