sure but weeknights are bad for gate and fan complaints (though the playoffs would take way less time if they used more midweeks, and obviously NBA/NHL/MLB manage)
but the broader point is that there is literally no time of week, day, or year you can avoid scheduling opposite a more popular sport

I mean you could DO it, you can do a lot with the Magic of Divisions/Conferences/Playoffs, but it would make even less sense to Generic North American Sports Fan

Yeah, I was looking at tickets on Wednesday because Madame and I have been meaning to go to a game for either team and the idea of this playoff conjunction delighted me, but the forecast was quelling

It is immensely funny in retrospect that the remaining time this has happened in the Bo3 era was 2024 Seattle vs Houston

yeah, the real issue has never been "playing more games in winter", because there are ways around that
the issue is giving up dates in summer IN EXCHANGE for dates in winter that you cannot actually use + Nebulous Player Movement Benefits + scheduling the playoffs vs the NBA/NHL instead of football

also that none of these baseline facts will change until January 2027, barring detours into the cool zone
and, well, see above re harm reduction

the entire discourse on congressional appropriations/shutdowns since January has been rancid, last night was just the poisoned cherry on top
obviously a big part of this is that the GOP admin won't follow the law and the GOP majority won't enforce it via impeachment but, well, that's baseline fact

I guess I didn't understand why as well as I thought! 😂
still, people were MAAAAAD back in 2017. I stalled out early myself before I could see precisely why - I think I missed the thriving galactic civilization of the early games more than I expected to before I started

actually DA Veilguard is still in that "I should see for myself and make up my own mind on if it's as disappointing as everyone says" spot in my rotation so probably not until after that too, lmao

look, is the team that wins one game, draws twice, and gets eliminated for losing two shootouts the better team? Quite possibly!
Are they ENOUGH better for me to care that the format means they lost? Absolutely not!
Win your games! None of this is graded on style points, especially not in MLS!
