From Watergate to Havana Syndrome—America’s trust is broken, and crime fiction knows it.
My new blog post explores how detectives evolved from Marlowe to Gage in an age of surveillance, conspiracy, and rot.

Pardon my language, but “completely and totally obliterated” is one heck of a claim to make within *hours* of a strike on complicated underground facilities.

We either have exquisite BDA resources in place, which is possible, or it’s a wishful claim made to sound big, which seems more likely.

So weird. Dropping in with no knowledge or understanding of the problem he tried to solve, or any real plan to do it & it spectacularly backfired.

Weird.
Elon Musk said in an interview that slashing the size of federal government proved far tougher than he expected and lamented the intense criticism leveled at the U.S. DOGE Service, which he has led. wapo.st/4kFrCY1

People would do well to remember how Hearst used his newspaper empire to attack his enemies.
Scoop: After the LA Times published a piece about Elon Musk that carried a headline owner Patrick Soon-Shiong didn't like, a new rule was implemented: Prior to publishing opinion stories, headlines must be emailed to Soon-Shiong, where he can then choose to weigh in. www.status.news/p/los-angele...
The Times They Are A-Changin’
Staffers at the Los Angeles Times described to Status a demoralized publication depleted of its spirit in which employees are "confused," "offended," and "frustrated."

Great idea. Let’s start with Vivek.

Vivek Ramaswamy told Axios' Mike Allen at the Aspen Security Forum that he's "hopeful" that slashing the federal workforce could be "good for many of the individuals who make a transition from government service back to the private sector."

This is the cost of war. If we're going to send people into harm's way, we need to care for them after. This is something Trump and Musk, who have never served anything, do not understand. It's also callous to say veterans receive "absurdly generous" benefits. Tell an IED victim they get too much.
Insane article. The vast majority of this increase is because we were exposed to burn pits in Iraq and Afghanistan. It’s our generation’s agent orange.

As a burn pit veteran myself, the economist is absolutely wrong here. My guess is there were no burn pit vets on the board that wrote this

My first book took me years to write--it's still unpublished--the second about 9 months. Now, I've got it down to 3-5 months for a first draft, plus 2-3 for revision. That's a faster pace than I'd like, but it's what the market demands these days.

I shipped my 14th novel yesterday. A difficult book to write & I suspect lot of work to do in revision. An editor once told me, if its kicking your ass, you're probably onto something.
