This essay by @inverseflorida.bsky.social is magnificent - gets to the heart of a ton of ideas that have been an implicit part of my thinking since I got tired of "liberal" becoming a dirty word online
Social Systems win Culture Wars - here's how you can win the next one.
The only way libs can win is by building stronger and better social systems that people actually want to be involved with.

People aren't forming their political views by conducting some check against core values or policy beliefs, they're forming them by situating themselves in a perceived social universe. People mostly just want to be on the right side and they're using social cues to figure out which side that is

I'm afraid I'm extremely Stancil-pilled on this topic.

There has ALWAYS been a low-information swathe of the electorate, but I'm not sure there's ever been such a big one voting based on MISinformation. And this is a direct consequence of the decline of mainstream news media & rise of social media.
When you ask “what went wrong” the only sensible explanation is the creation and growth of an information environment that can elevate random tweets and social media posts as avatars of Democratic policy, but treats Republicans announcing their dictatorial ambitions as news for page A13

“The left needs to have voices that speak to young people!!”

I know I should keep my mouth shut, but I’ve watched at least a dozen smart, passionate, popular left wing content creators get torn to shreds /by the left/ until they retreat either into obscurity or apolitical content.
