Imagine being so unloveable that not even billions and billions of dollars can buy you an experience that the poorest people on earth have had.
I know people think Musk only bought Twitter to help the rise of fascism.

While that’s important, I still think it’s secondary to his primary goal, which was to own the place where his fans praise him.

With AI, Musk’s use of the platform for love and validation is only getting more transparent.

You really can't buy love and happiness huh. Security sure. Safety yes. But if you are a hollowed out little heartless husk nothing can be bought to fix that.

The people demand soap operas. The Iliad? Soap opera. Romance of the Three Kingdoms? Soap opera. Comics? Soap operas. Pro wrestling? Soap operas. CRPGs? Soap operas. Longing for soap operas is part of the universal human experience.
It's cool how we keep proving over and over and over again that there's a significant market for narrative-heavy, character-driven, single-player experiences in video games and publishers just categorically refuse to believe us

Skeet just made up at this time of night having just woken up:

Wine moms and 40-50 year old suburban women are like the "Final Girls" of American voters grown up, so of course they want the streets running red with the blood of republicans.

I've thought the last several years on what a concession to gun rights would look like, and I've settled on treating them like cars (because they're seen as so ubiquitously, theirs a ton of them now, and they've irrevocably changed society on various levels). Very sobering, but there's a system.
The obvious challenge is that conceding on gun rights is perceived by those in favor of fin control as a vast moral betrayal and literally sacrificing children on the altar of firearms. It'll be painful in its own right

I don't think "causing a run on banks" is a good look for TikTok, but what do I know? 🤔🤷
This is such a pernicious piece of disinformation I got out of bed to type this thread with a real keyboard. First off I strongly recommend against withdrawing your money from a bank because TikTok told you to. It's a giant waste of your time. Second: don't trust a man that drinks blue Gatorade Zero
@peark.es is it true are the banks out of money? Should we run to the bank and withdraw our money?

All Artists are like parents, and their works as their children. Created [the art] against it own will, often for personal & somewhat selfish reasons, made in Artist's own image up to an extent, but ultimately they're their own thing, and more so when they inevitably head out into the wider world.
I genuinely believe... a vital skill set for any artist is the ability to accept consequences and factors beyond their control, and the wisdom to cultivate what factors they *can.*
I remember the tweet where the person admitted that they had been reading a book and somehow convinced themselves the main character was a horse. You really have zero control over what the reader brings to your story, even the unshakable belief your protagonist is a horse.

the democratic party’s basic problem is it has almost no control over how its message reaches the ears of voters, especially outside of presidential election years. but rather than devote serious time, attention and cash to that problem its consultants and pundits want to fight factional battles

Doing some quick math:

Federal minimum wage is $7.25/hr.

So one month: 7.25 x 40 work hours full time x 4.333 (average # of weeks in a month) = $1,256.57 per person

130 million ÷ 1,256.57 = 103,456 getting minimum wage salary for a full month.

There are ~3 million military personnel globally.
