if your video game has a blank slate player self-insert protagonist there is absolutely no reason that i shouldn't be able to make them a woman

Hey @unity.com the 'stats' view in the upper right of the game tab tells me I have 198 SkinnedMeshRenderers in view. This means the engine has a list of these somewhere. For real, is there a place I can see that list?

The frame debugger doesn't have a filter for this.

Preview of a thing I'm working on. It's a MASSIVE database (~800 entries) - investors, pubs, grants & funds w/meticulous detail (platforms, genres, funding capacity, pillars, etc). It has a gamified front end styled like an old P&C adventure to match developers to their best possible partners.

This is my first year watching the Wholesome, Women-led, Latin American, SE Asian, and more SGF-associated streams.

My wife and I are actually really enjoying ourselves seeing some things we otherwise wouldn't have been exposed to.

I just wanted to put out a hearty "Cry more" to anyone who whines about a VR sequel / side game coming out to a game IP they like.

I'm quite excited to try out the Thief VR game. Stealth/Sneaking/Futzing games are pretty perfect for VR honestly.

My read is that vibe coding is software engineers (or wannabe engineers) discovering tools for making messy hacked together prototypes to validate an idea with poor code, and then pushing that to production with minimal testing.

Excuse me but that is a game designer's job.

Ever since July when the strike started (and my work at Akupara stopped) I've been floating by on just streaming and convention money.

I've put off having to take outside help for as long as possible but my savings have finally run dry and rent is due in a couple weeks.

I used to think that I by working in video games, I was doing real-time-sensitive programming. Then an audio streaming programming task came my way.

Trying to diagnose popping in this audio ring buffer and the purring from this cat on my desk is being an actual problem.

For a company that's so petrified by the specter of backwards compatibility that it won't even remove ancient cruft that can be auto-upgraded, Unity's (buried) policy of "Use Addressables! But also they make DontDestroyOnLoad() unsafe so don't use that foundational function anymore" is pretty wild.

I've been slowly trying to improve my hard surface modeling skills, and pretty happy with the topology on this one. The real-world scale is about 2.25 inches tall.

Put another way:
If you love VR, and want to play anything that isn't:

- Free to play Gorilla-tag clones w. Microtransactions
- Horizon Worlds made by teenagers
- User Community VR Mods of flat games
- VR chat worlds (until that platform runs out of money)

You need to actually buy the darn games.

Once again running Windows in a completely foreign language and number formatting ruleset to test cross-culture file serialization compatibility for a retrofit into a project, and realizing that most people I know in person would look at me like I'm crazy if they came in and saw my computer.

Spent a few weeks helping on an Unreal 4 project to get familiar with it. I'm taking to it much better this time, but Blueprints being binary files is debilitating for collab.

It's been interesting bouncing between Godot, Unity, and Unreal for various clients. Each feels like it has its segment.
