We saw hints of this in another SW show. I think it was Mandalorian? The New Republic is doing the opposite of literally everything the Empire did, even the things common/necessary to all gov's. No wonder they were totally dysfunctional by the time of TFA.

As if to make the point, I and many of my friends think that Andor barely, if at all, qualifies as Star Wars (in a good way).
