Have you noticed plane turbulence is getting worse?

It’s not your imagination. It’s climate change.
Our new study finds that the upper atmosphere is becoming more sheared and less stratified because of climate change. Both these changes are making the air less stable and more conducive to turbulence.

Hurricane Melissa could be one of the most worst hurricanes on record for Jamaica...and it's a textbook example of how climate change is making hurricanes more dangerous: explosive intensification, slow movement, and massive rainfall.

If you know any there, please make sure they’re prepared 🙏

Researchers in water law and policy explain how companies rarely tell the public exactly how much water data centers consume: buff.ly/uRvYWPN

check out this fun video about my recent bat project!
🦇 Baby bats almost get themselves killed while learning to listen for the right prey to hunt. Smithsonian researcher Logan S. James and his team spent decades studying these acoustic assassins in Panama and the results were wild.

Overpumping of groundwater accounts for 44‰ of global sea level rise—versus 37% from Greenland + 19% from Antarctica. Because after water is put to human use, it escapes into the ocean.

And groundwater is a finite resource. In some areas, so much has already been drained, aquifers have collapsed
Groundwater is drying out, heating up, and causing sea level rise
Overuse of groundwater has created zones of “mega-drying” around the world — and caused more sea level rise than Greenland’s ice sheets.

This shows the difference between the average temperature in each month and the 20th century average for that month.
