On this day in 1997, Our Lady Peace released their second studio album Clumsy. Considered one of the best Canadian albums of the 1990s, it went diamond in Canada with one million copies sold and hit #1 in the country. It won the Juno Award for Rock Album of the Year

On this day in 1992, Dr. Roberta Bondar went into space on the Space Shuttle Discovery. She was the first Canadian woman, and the first neurologist, to go into space. She spent eight days, one hour and 14 minutes orbiting the Earth and conducted 40 experiments in Spacelab.

On this day in 1956, Sam Langford died.
Born in 1886 in Weymouth Falls, Nova Scotia, he is called the Greatest Fighter Almost Nobody Knows. One of the best boxers of his era, he won 210 fights in his career, including 126 by knockout.
